Logistics
Jamboree Location
The jamboree will be held in Building 100, Room 149, at the DOE Joint Genome Institute, 2800 Mitchell Drive, Walnut Creek. Please check in with the receptionist when you arrive. A shuttle bus will take you from the Embassy Suites to JGI each morning and return you each evening.
Laptops
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops. JGI will have laptops on hand for participants who opt not to bring their own. Participants will have use of these laptops for the duration of the Jamboree, including overnight use at the hotel. JGI's IT group will give guidance regarding setup at the beginning of the first day's session, but IT cannot provide individual support for personal laptops.
Visitor badges
The shuttle will drop participants off at Building 100. Visitor badges will be issued at the door.
A Note on the Weather
The weather in northern California in June is typically warm and dry, with low humidity. Temperatures average in the low 80s during the day and the mid 50s in the evenings. Bring a light jacket for any outside nighttime activities. However, if you plan on sightseeing in San Francisco, be prepared for very chilly weather.
