What to Bring
LAPTOP COMPUTERS REQUIRED
Please plan to bring your own laptop to the JGI in order to participate in the Workshop. Details regarding system requirements follow: The standard network setup for the JGI conference will be 802.11b and 802.11g wireless. Wireless network cards of less than 3 years of age will typically be compatible with at least one of these standards. Attendees should have the appropriate higher-level privileges to configure network settings on their systems, if needed. The conference room will also have a small number of 100BASE-TX (fast ethernet) ports available for attendees who--for whatever reason--aren't able to use our wireless system. Network addresses will be assigned via DHCP, whether through the wired or wireless network.
POSTER SESSION
If you would like to, please plan to bring a poster outlining your recent work or an overview of your lab's activities. We plan to have a poster session on Monday evening, which will give the JGI crew and the participants the opportunity to learn more about each other's work.
Hotels
If rooms are available, the following local hotels may offer the government rate ($110/night + tax) for JGI visitors:
|
2355 North Main Street |
2730 N. Main St |
1345 Treat Boulevard |

Air Travel and Ground Transportation
The most convenient airports to Walnut Creek are the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK). Although the Oakland Airport is closer to Walnut Creek by car, SFO offers an easier and more economical connection to Walnut Creek via the local train system, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), which stops near several Walnut Creek hotels. Rental cars, shuttles, cabs, etc., are also available at both airports. See the links below for further information:
